On arrival you will be shown to your room by Neil or Susan, not just handed a key. We give you a price confirmation card; explain the various aspects of the room and point out that we can be contacted at any time from your room telephone.

Susan and Neil enjoy combining business with pleasure in running The Old Mill. Susan likes to spend some of her spare time line dancing and Neil just can't get the narrow gauge steam railways of North Wales out of his mind and is following the rebuilding of the Welsh Highland Railway on a daily basis.

Until 2005, Susan and Neil also ran a small Tourism Website design and maintenance business - and yes, you're looking at one of them.

Meals

Evening meals are no longer available within The Old Mill.

However Evening and midday meals continue to be available within the adjacent Cherry Pie Inn and Restaurant. The Cherry Pie is closed on Sunday evenings and all day Monday but other places to dine are available within a short drive.

We have an extensive list of very good restaurants available in the locality.

Style

Our style of operation? Friendly but not familiar best describes it. We treat you as we like to be treated ourselves.

We provide linen not paper napkins at breakfast, our dining tables are also dressed with linen.We hand slice your toast and  your butter is hand curled, marmalade is served in a dish and jams and honey are served in glass Tiptree jars - no plastic convenience packs. We don't use glass topped tables in your room and we keep the number of notices on the walls to the absolute minimum that safety and practicality dictates. Oh yes - our wardrobes are full of quality hangers.

Tourist Information

We understand that if you are on holiday you need easy and quick access to as much tourism information as possible. Thus we have a large up to date collection of brochures, maps and guides - in fact we have a special room just for this.

Walking

Rural Flintshire and the Clwydian Hills AONB* in which we are situated is great walking country. We have excellent guides and maps for guests to use.

Alcoholic Drinks

We don't have an alcoholic drinks license. Guests are most welcome to bring their own drinks which we will refrigerate where required and supply glasses; corkscrews and ice for. The adjacent Cherry Pie Inn & Restaurant, a separate business from ourselves, is fully licensed for drinks and is open from 12.0 midday until mid afternoon and from 7.00 p.m. (Closed Sunday evening and all day Monday).

Smoking

Both we and the adjacent Cherry Pie Inn & Restaurant are totally non smoking throughout including bathrooms and bar areas. You can smoke within the grounds of course.
